The PBF Redbirds Family and the baseball community were saddened by the passing of Founder and Head Coach Jim Lawson. The  PBF Redbirds program began in 1991 as a fall and winter academy. It focused on players' development during the offseason, both on and off the field. The highly successful program has had travel teams compete in Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter leagues - age groups ranging from 12 to 19 years old. Jim was a pioneer in baseball development, and the PBF Redbirds helped grow, develop and mentor countless young players to succeed in baseball, academics and life. Jim was proud of who he was and what he represented.

To honour the legacy of Jim Lawson, the Calgary Redbirds - now known as Canadian Pro Baseball Academy - will continue to operate a highly regarded baseball program offering travel teams, offseason training and a passionate, professional and knowledgeable coaching staff.
